Dorothy "Dot" Young

Dorothy “Dot” Young, age 93 passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at her residence in Columbia, MS. She was a member of North Columbia Baptist Church and in 1974 was named Food Supervisor of Columbia City Schools where her career spanned 26 years upon retirement.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis B. Young, Sr.; daughters, Linda Harger, and Sadie Rogers; son, Curtis B. Young, Jr.; parents, Curtis Polk, Sr. and Maggie King Polk; brother, Curtis Polk, Jr.; and a great-grandson, Dustin Daigle. Surviving family include her sister, Barbara Bass of Petal, MS; sister-in-law and caregiver, Vera Broome; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia. A graveside service honoring Mrs. Young’s life will follow at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery.
