Floyd Gerald Price, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the age of 87. He was born to Doyle and Inez Price in Kingsland, Arkansas where he was raised. Gerald worked in Louisiana in the oil and gas industry for a number of years before finding his home in Marion County in 1964. In 1969 he began a career at Roger’s Lumber Company where he worked for 40 years. Gerald was a hard worker who was devoted to his family. He had many interests outside of work that kept him busy. He loved woodworking and could build anything if you showed him a picture. Gerald was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising chickens, ducks, and catfish in his pond. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Columbia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Azell Price and a brother, Ellis Price. Gerald is survived by three children, Mike Price (Carmen), Robin Price (Paula), and Karen Carlisle (Phillip); seven grandchildren, Sherry Mills (Adam), Erin Little (Murph), Cory Price (Tricia), Kyle Price (Sarah), Chase Price (Hannah), Lauren Houston (Blake), and Layton Carlisle (Mary Kate); nine great-grandchildren, Hannah Mills, Leah Mills, Hayes Price, Jude Price, Avery Price, Henley Grace Houston, Hatcher Houston, Elaina Carlisle, and Maddox Carlisle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral service for Gerald at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 11:00am where friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until service time. He will be laid to rest in the Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery assisted by Adam Mills, Murph Little, Cory Price, Kyle Price, Chase Price, and Layton Carlisle serving as pallbearers and Tommy Graves and Blake Houston as honorary pallbearers. The service will be officiated by Reverend David McNeil, Reverend Glenn Nace, and Reverend Blake Houston.
