Harvie E. Broom, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the age of 87. He was born in Marion County to Tom and Emily Broom where he has remained a lifelong resident. Harvie worked as a mechanic most of his life and could repair anything. He was known for his generosity, helping anyone who had a need. He served his community and his Lord through his membership with East Columbia Baptist Church. Harvie was devoted to his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Winona Kilpatrick, Rosa Bond, and Ouida Anderson; two brothers, Ed Broom and Nathan Broom; a granddaughter, Heather Broome; and his wife, Hazel Broom. Harvie is survived by a daughter, Kathy Broome and her husband, Geoffrey; two sons, Ezra Broom and Jerry Broom and his wife, Belinda; two sisters, Linda Patterson and Willene Summers; two brothers, Ray Broom and his wife, Elaine and Terry Wayne Broom and his wife, Katie; seven grandchildren, Tami Breland and her husband, Scott, Misti Broom, Chuck Broom, David Broom, Chad Broome, Kimberly Anthony and her husband, K.W., and T.J. Broom; ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
There will be a visitation for Harvie at Colonial Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, December 13, 2021 and the funeral service, officiated by Reverend James Bell, will be in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Burial will follow in the Rocky Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Broom family desires to express their appreciation for the food, prayers, and other acts of kindness shown to them during this time.
