Robert Thornton, age 65 passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at his residence in Sandy Hook, MS. He was a career welder and worked 20 years with Walker-Hill Environmental. Robert was gifted in mechanics and could “fix” anything. He liked the outdoors and watching westerns, and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Thornton; parents, Carl Kennedy and Betty Golden Kennedy; a sister, Jackie Kennedy; his companion, Rose Lowe, and a granddaughter, Hailey Williams. He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Jo Freeman, Shannon Noel Marlin, and Samantha Thornton Shepherd (Kevin); brothers, James Thornton (Mary), and David Thornton; and six grandchildren, Christopher Freeman, Daxx Shepherd, Sheen Shepherd, Sophia Marlin, Abigail Marlin, and William Shepherd.
A visitation for Robert will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM. Reverend Mark McNair will officiate and burial will follow at the Thornton Family Cemetery assisted by Kevin Shepherd, Jacob Barnes, Popeye Stringer, Luke Stringer, Eric Hudson and Joe Kitchens serving as pallbearers.
