

Token Herman Spiers, 75 years of age, died December 27, 2011 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg, MS from complications of osteoporosis and COPD.
Mr. Spiers was born in Marion County, MS on July 10, 1936. He attended Columbia Public Schools. He became a member of Seafarer's Union and worked for numerous steamship companies as an able-bodied seaman Merchant Seaman during the aftermath of World War II, the Vietnam War and the Korean War. He was last employed as a crane operator for Poole Offshore Company.
Mr. Spiers was predeceased by his parents, Marion G. Spiers and Clara Kemp Spiers, one brother, Thomas Freeman (T.F.) Spiers, and three sisters, Helen Snyder, Peggy Karl and Patricia Denham. He is survived by one brother, Marion G. Spiers, Jr., his wife, Patricia “Patty” Tagert Spiers, of Columbia, one son, Charles Herman Spiers of Natchez, MS, three daughters, Clara McDonald of Sumrall, Elaine Lutz of Colorado Springs, CO, and Debbie Cooper (Tim) of Sumrall, seven grandchildren, Derek Roberts, Andy Roberts, Matt Cooper, Michael Cooper, Amanda Hudson, Tyler Lutz and McKenzie Lutz.
Visitation was Thursday, December 29 at Colonial Funeral Home and funeral services were at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Friday, December 30, 2011 with burial services at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Matt Cooper, Michael Cooper, Derek Roberts, Andy Roberts, David McDonald and Ron Denham, Jr.
