

Alma Cribb Nealy Martin, 94, of Columbia, died Thursday, November 10, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family after an extended illness. Born May 13, 1917 in Conway, SC, she was a daughter of the late Walter Allison and Carrie Rebecca Lewis Nealy.
She was a very devoted, loving, and caring Mother. Left to cherish her memory are her eight children, Lyla Rebecca “Becky” Braxton (Edward L. “J.R”) Santee, SC, Isaac Laverne (Brenda) Cribb all of Columbia, Mettie Ruth Huggins (Charles), Gilbert, SC, George Wendel Cribb, Jean C. Griggs (J.D.), Walter Leo Cribb, all of Columbia, Richard Wayne Cribb (Donna), and David Anthony “Tony” Cribb (Carolyn) all of Blythewood. She is survived by twenty-three grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Peter H. Martin, and George Buck Cribb; sisters, Lillian Gertrude Nealy Gore, Grace Edna Jordan, Lucille Nealy Sellers, and Irma Estelle Nealy Jordan; brother, Joseph Walter Nealy.
Mrs. Martin was employed by Capital City Manufacturing Co. for twenty-five years and retired from K-Mart Corporation. She was a member of Killian Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending and participating in church activities.
Her funeral service will be held at Killian Baptist Church, 577 West Killian Rd., Columbia, on November 12, 2011, at 11 o’clock, with The Rev. Richard A. Humphries and The Rev. David E. Braxton, Jr. officiating. Serving as pallbearers are David E. Braxton, Sr., Michael Stephen Braxton, Richard Wayne Cribb, Jr., Donald Scott Cribb, John Monroe Miles, Brian Keith Cribb, with honorary pallbearers Jerry W. Clark, Brian Kyle Ulmer, and Derrick Rae Braxton. Interment will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Friday, November 11, 2011, from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
