Bennie Haze Seely, 91, of Newberry, South Carolina died August 6, 2025. He was the son of O.M. and Myrtle Offield Seely. Ben was born on April 4, 1934 near Marlow, OK. His family moved to West Texas when he was 3, so he always considered Lamesa, Texas home.
Ben enlisted in the Army while so young that it required a parental signature. He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, William (Bill), Gene, W.C. (Dub), Mickey and Jimmy Don; and sisters, Nora Farmer, Angie Farmer and Wanda Stephens.
Ben is survived by his wife, Susan Werts Seely; a son, Steve (Bilinda) of Dale, Texas; and two step-daughters, Leigh (Alan) Davenport and Katherine Kunkle, both of Newberry. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Bill (Judy) Werts; and numerous nieces and nephews. His only surviving sibling is a brother, Dean (Mary) Seely of Chandler, Texas.
A private burial will be held at Smyrna Presbyterian Church.
