COLUMBIA - Beverly Bell Cain passed away unexpectedly at home on the morning of Sunday, July 14, 2013. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana in August of 1943, she was the daughter of Mary Timms Bell and Kenneth R. Bell. Beverly lived throughout her youth in Richmond, Virginia where she graduated high school in 1962. After Beverly’s fist year in college, her father was transferred to Orangeburg, SC. It was in this place, on the occasion of a young adult 4th of July event sponsored by the First Baptist Church that she was introduced to the love of her life, Dolfo Cain. The two were married on New Year’s Eve day of 1964, and 48 years were collected in a loving, vibrant relationship.
Beverly’s life truly was an amazing presentation of unwearied devotion, care, kindness, diligence and tenderness to Dolfo and their two beautiful daughters, Tracey and Sherry. She was ceaseless with dance lessons, swimming practices and meets, beach and camping trips, dressage riding activities (practice, barn chores, horse care and nourishment, tack maintenance, etc.), church functions, school activities and other innumerable undertakings that modeled for her little girls Godly motherhood which impelled them to emerge as the wonderful women and mothers that they are today.
Consistent with the recurring themes of life, Beverly found opportunity in later years to engage again in many of the aforementioned activities for her grandchildren. These “precious six” were what her and Dolfo’s life were centered on throughout the past 17 plus years.
Beverly was a gifted and accomplished artist. She delighted many family and friends with meaningful and inspiring paintings that will forever be treasured gifts. Many received greeting cards and notes of thanks that included on the card a lovely image fashioned by her mind and hand. Through this gift, Beverly was a vessel yielding God’s blessing to those she cared for.
Beverly is predeceased by her mother, Mary and an infant grandson, William Baker. She leaves her loving and thankful husband, Dolfo, daughters, Tracey (Eddie) Baker and Sherry (John) Gibson; granddaughters, Allison, Amanda and Emily Baker, Grace and Bailey Gibson; grandson, Ian Gibson, her father, Kenny; sister, Barrie Tyler, and brothers, Brian and Brad Bell.
Beverly had a deep love and appreciation for her church, Riverland Hills Baptist Church, and her family wishes that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Riverland Hills Mission Fund.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel. Services will be conducted 1PM Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church with interment following in Woodridge Memorial Park.
