Carolyn Jimelle Mccabe Watson

The funeral service for Jimelle M. Watson, 93, of Columbia, will be held at New Heights Church at 3 o’clock, Thursday, July 21, 2011, with The Rev. Michael L. Townsend officiating. Burial will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Members of the Truthseekers Sunday School Class are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o’clock. Memorials may be made to New Heights Church School, 5501 Broad River Rd, Columbia, SC 29212.

Mrs. Watson passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Born on January 21, 1918, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late James M. and Sally Virginia Watts McCabe. A very faithful Christian, Jimelle prepared many meals as a ministry to her fellow members of New Heights Church, as well as for other folks in need. She was also a member of the Truthseekers Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her daughters, Rae (Buddy) Rayfield and Sally Preacher, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Jimmy Rayfield and Carol Rayfield, both of Columbia, and Ronnie (Chari) Preacher of Camden; great grandchildren, Arden Grace Preacher and Aleena Faith Preacher; brother, James (Doris) McCabe of Columbia; sister, Florence Matthews of Pineville, LA; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jimelle was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Watson; brother, George McCabe; sisters, Dorothy Brown, Virginia McMillan, Lois Krell, Louise Newman and Sarah McCabe Rodgers.
