ELGIN- Charles L. Crawford, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2023.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, January 27, 2023 in the Student Center at Village Church, 574 Rimer Pond Road, Blythewood, SC 29016. A reception will immediately follow the service at the church.
Charles was born November 1, 1939 in San Jose, California to Charles and Vera Crawford. He grew up with his three brothers in Salinas, California. He excelled in Track, Football and Baseball, including competing against Bob Hayes at the California State Track Meet. After Hartnell College, he worked for several different local hardware companies before dedicating over 25 years of service to the McCormick Company.
Charlie will be remembered for his happy and friendly personality. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he was. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and being the ultimate handyman. Most importantly, Charlie was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
He is predeceased by his parents and brothers. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 57 years; Tommie Crawford; a son, Mark Crawford (Audrey), a daughter; Kerri Fischer (Kelley), four grandchildren; JT Crawford (Britt), Tyler Fischer, Billie Rae Wilson (Raymond), Alyssa Fischer all of Columbia, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
