I was so sorry to hear about Cleveland's passing.  He is a wonderful spirit that will always remain with us.  I am forturnate to have called him a friend during his time here at Sentara.

I was very sad to hear of Cleveland's passing. We worked together in the ICU at Sentara, as well as the ICU at the VA hospital in Hampton. He was a great co-worker and a great friend. May he rest in great peace, and May God comfort and keep his family and loved ones at this time. (Matthew 5:4)

RIP my dear friend Cleveland, you will truly be missed. My deepest condolescences to the family!!! He was alway such a happy, positive person with a very kind caring spirit!!! I meet him 22yrs ago when i was new nurse at SentaraNorfolk and he has been a loyal committed friend who has always cared about the well being of me &my son...I'm so glad i got a chance to see him a few wks before his passing becuz we reflected on all the highlights & great accomplishments of his life.

I have known Cleveland what seems like forever. We were coworkers, but we were friends first. He always called me "CJ" and I will miss hearing him say that to me in the morning when he would come through the door to work. I will never forget the time we spent together talking on the couch and watching football together at your daughters home a month ago. You will be missed!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  I did not work with Cleveland at the Hampton VA but I did work with him at Norfolk General.  Cleveland always had a smile and wit about him.  He was one of the truly good ones.  I had not seen him in ten years but I recognized the picture right away.  Our loss is God's gain.  He will be missed here but surely welcomed there.  God Bless

Prayers of comfort to Cleveland's family and loved ones.  Cleveland was a very caring person; he would always show concern and ask me about my young nephew who was very ill.  Let not your heart be troubled, God is  the greatest comforter.

I've known Cleveland "the resp man" over the years while he was at the VA.  I enjoyed his laughter and words of wisdom. My prayers are with Nellie and the rest of your family. May his spirit continue through the works that he has sowed. God bless you all.

Cleveland and I started working at Hampton VAMC on the very same day in the Respiratory Therapy Department. From day one we became more than coworkers, we became friends. We worked, played, prayed and cried together. I miss my friend but I know that I will see him again. To his family and friends, may our hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as we celebrate a life well lived.

It was a pleasure knowing and working with Cleveland. He will always be remembered for his super smile and sharp humor.

Cleveland was a part of our ICU family at the Hampton VAMC. He was passionate about his patients and his co-workers. We shared many laughs especially "Nipsey Russell". He will be truly missed. My sympathy and condolences to the family of Mr.Cleveland Gates.

Therapist and was a asset to the Units he worked on. He was my Guide around New York one summer; we had so much fun. He will be greatly  missed by all who knew him.

Cleveland and I were part of a group that went to Puerto Rico just a year ago.  He was so happy to meet Nellie's family and despite incredible pain, he had the brightest spirit and love of life.  He was a dedicated respiratory therapist to the SCI unit and union safety officer, a devoted father, grandfather and fiance'.  A bright light in the world has been dimmed.

My deepest sympathy to the Family of Cleveland Gates. It was an honor to know and be known by such a wonderful human being. He was positive and infectiously happy. I will miss his physical presence but hold his memory in my heart.

Cleveland brought joy and warmth to everyone's life that he touched. He will be sadly missed by everyone at the Hampton VAMC. He served as the Safety Officer for AFGE Local 2328 in Hampton, VA and we loved him as our brother. He will sadly missed by all. Our best to his children and all of his loved ones.

I had the pleasure of knowing Cleveland while he worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Hampton, VA.  Cleveland was one of the finest people I have ever met in my lifetime.  Cleveland was genuinely loving of everyone he met.  He always had a hug for everyone.  Cleveland worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hampton VA, as one of our respiratory therapists, but also as our Safety Officer, for the AFGE Local 2328 Union.  He did both his jobs here so well. Cleveland is in Heaven with the good Lord, and he is not in any more pain.  Everyone here who knew Cleveland loved him very much!!  God Bless Cleveland!!  My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
