Dennis Larry Catoe

COLUMBIA - Dennis Larry Catoe, 64, passed away November 2, 2014. A memorial service will be held at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 4:00 pm. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Following the service, Dennis has requested your attendance at a celebration of his life at the Woodlands Golf Club. The Reverend Doctor Jack Heinsohn will officiate. Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel is assisting the family.

Dennis was born December 18, 1949 in Columbia, South Carolina, son of Lee Catoe and Bobbie S. Catoe. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1968. He was a proud member of the Eau Claire High School State Championship Football team in 1967. Dennis graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He had a long working relationship with Independent Insurance Agencies in the state of South Carolina. Since 2000, he was the Territory Manager for Builders Mutual Insurance Company where he enjoyed over 14 years working with the Builders Mutual family. He proudly served as President of the South Carolina Insurance News Service in 1998.

Dennis had a great love for family and friends. He never met a stranger. He was a member of the Woodlands Golf Club for 36 years, where he played golf as often as life would allow. He was proud of being a Gamecock fan in the good and bad times. His most proud title was being called “Mamps” by his adoring grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Richard (Ricky) Keith Catoe. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 41 years, Roslyn, daughter Kellie Catoe Hall, (Brian), granddaughter, Wellslee Anne Hall and grandson, Hampton Henry Hall all of Columbia.
