

ELGIN – Dennis “Slick” Dixon Skinner, 56, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 5-7 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel.
Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Henry Dowell and Elizabeth “Lib” Ann Dixon Skinner. He graduated from Spring Valley High School and attended Midlands Technical College.
Dennis was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and boss to many. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the beach and lake with his family. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family and supported his daughters in their sporting activities. He was the owner of Duncan Heating and A/C, Inc. Dennis was a Mason of the Dentsville Masonic Lodge 398, a Shriner with Jamil Temple, and an avid Gamecock fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Carson Skinner, daughters; Kathryn D. “Katie” Skinner, Leslie E. Skinner, Lauren M. Skinner, and Carson A. Skinner; brother, Mike Skinner of Hopatcong, NJ, sister, Carol Lynn Skinner Kennedy and numerous brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Kathy E. Skinner. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 950 W Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
