

Effie Ellen Raines Brazell Tucker died Tuesday, November 8, 2011. She was born in Richland County on May 17, 1934, and was a daughter of the late Otis and Zula Boney Raines. Mrs. Tucker was a caring mother, grandmother, neighbor, and friend. She was an “anchor” for those close to her and a living example of God’s love and graciousness. As a member of Pelion Church of the Nazarene, she served as a Sunday school teacher until the onset of her illness. Mrs. Tucker retired from Wachovia.
Surviving are her children Jack Brazell (Brenda), Sandi Brazell, Elizabeth Fisher (Bruce), Ellen Hutto (Edward), Teresa Marshall (Mark), Kelly Cowell (Greg), Beth Hermon (Ray), Janis Livingston; and 48 grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Silmond Verderee Tucker (Vern) and John Wesley Brazell; and her beloved son, Donnie Brazell. The last surviving of five children, she was also preceded by siblings, Otis Raines Jr., John W. Raines, Rachael Rabon, and Ali Mae Newton Stimpson.
Her funeral will be held 3 o’clock, Thursday, November 10, 2011, at West Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, 350 Watling Road, West Columbia, with interment following in Old Macedonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock, Wednesday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Brazell, Doug Lever, Brint Motley, Jeffrey Robbins, Tommy Robbins, and Greg Cowell, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dargin Hoffman, Wesley Elrod, Adam Faust, Donnie Herman and Bobby Tucker.
