Gerald is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Mary Alice Melton; his brother, Charles E. Melton; sisters-in-law, Ellen Melton and Annett Parrot; two special cousins, Shirley Lucas and Ada Smith; as well as other cousins and special friends.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents and a younger brother, Ernest Frank Woodson, who passed away January 2nd, 2023.
Gerald has a wonderful family that loves him very much. He was such a special man in all our lives. He and his brother, Charles, had a special bond with each other and loved to go fishing and hunting together. Gerald loved his family so much and had many special friends. He will forever be in our hearts and memories, so go in peace dear Gerald and rest in the arms of the Lord, till we meet again someday.
A visitation will be held for Gerald from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. A burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery after the service.
