

CHAPIN – Surrounded by his family, Wayne Saville, 78, husband of Becky Gable Saville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Born March 9, 1933 in Clearwater, SC, he was the son of the late Ralph and Anderine Saville and stepson of Rebecca Saville. A graduate of Clinton High School, he served his country proudly in the United States Navy on the USS Los Angeles during the Korean Conflict. Through the years, he rescued wildlife birds, worked for Project Love at Chapin Elementary School and supported Newberry College. He was an avid huntsman for civil war artifacts, wrote and published a book about the B25 Bomber, and shared many stories. He is loved and will be missed by his wife of 34 years; his sons, Robert L. (Teresa) Saville of Chapin, Ronald G. (Leslie) Saville of Chapin; his daughter, Wanda Boland of Chapin; his brother, William Ronald (Bonnie) Saville of Columbia; his sisters, Linda (Walter) Harris of Aiken, Betty Jo Lynch of Lawrenceville, GA, Florence (Bill) Horner of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Robert W. Saville, Ashley Saville, Lauren Boland and Christian Saville; three great-grandchildren; special nieces, Margie Gable Saville and Kim Gable Jolly and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Ilagay Saville and Pat Dowd and a granddaughter, Jodi Boland.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel on Bush River Road.
Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be David Jolly, Joel Bickley, Joseph Stewart, Mike Sloan, Marty Chapman and Skipper Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Wicker, Mike Staub, Earl Long, Waymon Martin, Jack Stewart, Gerald Watford, Jack Stewart, Ed Fetner, Walter Bracken and Patrick Sufka.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Zion Lutheran Church, 226 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072 or the Newberry College Athletic Department, 2100 College Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
