

Graveside services with Military Honors for Master Sgt. James Carroll McMillian (U.S. Air Force), of Hopkins, will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, with Chaplain Brian Bohlman and Father Robert Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Monday evening at Greenlawn Funeral Home.
Master Sgt. McMillian passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010. He was born January 5, 1972 in Berlin, Germany to James Carroll McMillian and Annette Jean Krause McMillian. He graduated from Incline High School in Incline Village (Lake Tahoe), Nevada. A resident of Hopkins, SC since 1997, he was a Flight Engineer Technician with the 169th Operations Support Flight of the SC Air National Guard - McEntire Joint National Guard Base. He entered military service March 7, 1991, and spent active duty time in Iraq and Afghanistan. He served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, earning the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal and Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 Service Star, and numerous other awards.
He loved aviation and airplanes and was extremely talented and mechanically inclined. His favorite hobbies were restoring muscle cars and motorcycles, and collecting Radio-controlled airplanes. He was a loving and devoted husband, and was very fun-loving. He loved to travel, especially RVing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years and high school sweetheart, Laurie Christa Usiewicz McMillian; his parents, James Carroll McMillian and Annette Jean Krause McMillian both of Henderson, NV; a sister, Lara McMillian of Fort Worth, TX; his father-in-law, Dr. Ronald A. Usiewicz and mother-in-law, Janet A. Usiewicz both of Orlando, FL. He will be missed by his yellow labradores, “K.D.” and “Buddy”.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the James McMillian Memorial Fund at the S.C. National Guard Federal Credit Union. Arrangements under the direction of Greenlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Columbia, South Carolina.
