Jerry Patrick Gaines

Jerry Patrick Gaines, 63, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on March 9, 2025. He was born on April 2, 1961, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lori Smith Gaines, and their two sons: Harley Dillon (wife Mary, children Luke and Quinn) and Garrett Mitchell.

Jerry was a devoted husband, father, and friend, who cherished his family deeply. He had a special bond with his childhood friends, many of whom remained close throughout his life. If you met Jerry, you loved him!

Jerry found joy in fishing, hunting, and spending time on Lake Murray with family and friends.

Although Jerry graduated from NC State University in 1987, he proudly wore Garnet over Wolfpack Red on game days. Jerry grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and later moved to Columbia in 1998 with his family, where he built lasting relationships throughout his successful career in sales.

In February 2024, Jerry was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. While this was a challenging time for him and his loved ones, Jerry’s family and friends are thankful for the 13 precious months they were able to share with him, filled with love and cherished memories.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, March 15th, at 11:00 AM at Gateway Baptist Church (Chapel), 1651 Dutch Fork Road, Irmo, South Carolina. A light reception will follow the service.
