Kaye Starling Amick

Elmwood - Kaye Starling Williams Amick, “Star”, was called to God on Monday, September 2, 2013. Star was born in Charleston, South Carolina on July 2, 1945 to the late William Holmes Williams and Minnie Starling Williams. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and The University of South Carolina where she received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration.

Star was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many and enjoyed living life to the fullest. She was successful in her career and rose to the position of Chief Nursing Officer within the Humana and Columbia HCA Hospital networks. She created Skilled Nursing Units and was instrumental in the planning and completion of a multi-million dollar cardiac care unit during her career. In 2004 Star retired and in 2009 moved to Boerne, Texas to be closer to her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, The Hill Country Newcomers Club and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her son Wesley Holmes Amick of Charleston, South Carolina and her daughter and son-in-law Angela and Richard Dupre’ of Boerne, Texas along with their two children Blaise and Savannah. Family members also include her nephew David Beckroge, his wife Evelyn and their daughter Laurin of Blythewood, South Carolina, Star’s niece Kaye Beckroge and her three children Edward Goldberg V, Mary Catherine Goldberg, Elizabeth Dillon, her husband Joseph Dillion and their son Harper of Pawley’s Island, South Carolina.

Services will be conducted at Reformation Lutheran Church on September 8th, 2013. Visitation will begin at 1:30p.m. followed with a church service at 2:30p.m. Burial services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. Sincere appreciation is expressed for the care given to her by the staffs at M.U.S.C., Roper St. Francis Rehabilitation Hospital, her in home health care providers, Menger Springs Morningside Ministries and Vitas Hospice.
