Kenneth “Ken “Allen Miles (71), son of the late Willie Edmond Miles and Ada Bruce Sloan, was born on July 25, 1952 in Columbia SC. After graduating high school in SC, he proudly served 2 and a half years in the United States Navy.
At an early age, he loved all kinds of animals. On one occasion he talked his father into picking up a deceased opossum up from on the side of the road and brought it home so it could have a proper funeral. He loved photography, playing music, riding motor cycles, restoring cars, martial arts and hunting.
He worked in the Nuclear Power Plant Industry as an Engineer most of his adult life until his retirement. He loved his family very much and was the youngest of 4 siblings.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Donna Krause and her family in Nebraska; his daughters Jessica Brown (Stephen) and Melissa Ottaway (Chuck); sisters, Faye Hilger (Tony) and Belva Pettigrew (Charles); brother, Don Miles (June); his grandchildren: Dylan, Macy, Layla, and Willow; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201. An inurnment will follow at 2:00 PM with a Navy Honor Guard at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229.
