

Mr. Blake was a son of the late Ernest Edwin and May Carver Blake and is survived by his wife of 38 years, Germaine Blease Blake, and two daughters: Sandy Blake Gates of Herriman, Utah, and Judy Blake Miller of Columbia, SC. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Jared Miller, Justin Miller, Alexander Gates, Brian Gates, Timothy Gates, and Jonathan Gates, and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother Donald Blake, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Bruce Hubbard and Nellie and Curtis Todd, along with many family members and friends. He was predeceased by brother, Charles Earl Blake; brother, Edward Lee Blake; brother, Fred Dwight Blake; sister, Kathleen Blake David; and sister, Elizabeth Mae Blake Lewis.
Mr. Blake grew up in Huntington, West Virginia and Paducah, Kentucky and joined the Air Force in 1955 and served at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1963, he became an electrician, and worked many years for Fogle Electric, until he retired in 1999, but continued to work as long as he could and was well respected throughout the city of Columbia for his talent and friendship to so many people.
He became a Mason in 1963 and he was a lifetime member of the Dentsville Masonic Lodge No. 398 AFM. He was also a long time member of the Jamil Shrine Temple.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, 4219 Hardscrabble Road, Columbia. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC.
