
Born in Tallahassee, FL on August 20, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Troy Bryant and Annie Vanviackhovan Bryant. A member of Spring Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church, she retired from Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary School. She loved tending to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid gardener, she provided travelers with a delightful view of the many flower gardens in her yard.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Pearl (Clay) Hooper of Elgin, Ruby Peavy of the home, Patricia (Mac) McLean of Blythewood, Betty Frick of Columbia; son, Tommy (Carolyn) Peavy of Lugoff, stepdaughter, Margaret Rabon of Columbia; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Brazell; and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Peavy was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Peavy; son, John Peavy; daughter, Alberta Jeffcoat, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and four sisters and three brothers.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Peavy will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 2 o’clock at Spring Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church, formerly Holly Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church, 109 Roseberry Road, Columbia, with The Rev. Steven K. Lewis, The Rev. George Cashwell and The Rev. Otis Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Monday evening at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family would like to thank her caregivers at Heartstrings Hospice for their dedication.
