Margaret "Peggy" Tiller

COLUMBIA - Margaret “Peggy” Tiller, 57, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Brian Center after a long battle with cancer. Peggy is survived by her husband, Joseph Tiller of Columbia, SC; her parents, Roger and Frances Alton of Virginia Beach, VA; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bert Reavis of Virginia Beach, VA; her niece, Amy Giulioni and husband, Brandon of Charleston, SC; her niece, Erin Reavis of Virginia Beach, VA; and great-nephew, Phillip Reavis of Virginia Beach, VA.

Peggy was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on January 10, 1955. She graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School and Longwood College. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from Old Dominion University. Peggy taught for 34 years: 3 years in Portsmouth, VA, and 31 years at Condor Elementary in Richland County, SC.

Visitation is on Sunday, March 11, from 6-8 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home of Irmo/St. Andrew’s Chapel. The funeral will be at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church on Monday, March 12, at 10 am with lunch to follow. Peggy will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, VA.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations in Peggy’s name to the Crisis Fund at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, the Susan G. Komen Foundation or Pets Inc.
