Mary Corbin McCollum

COLUMBIA – A memorial service for Mary Corbin McCollum, 88, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 N. Trenholm Rd., Columbia, SC 29206. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Forest Lake Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. McCollum was born, January 24, 1929 in Augusta, GA and passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Charles Ruben Corbin and Katie Louise Deloache Corbin. Mrs. McCollum was a member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church where she had served on Session, was moderator of the women’s circle, a longtime member of Chancel choir and named honorary lifetime member of the church. She retired from Bell South after 37 years of service.

Mimi was always happiest when working in her yard, singing in the church choir, and being surrounded by her grandchildren.

Mrs. McCollum is survived by her daughter, Paula Rhoad (Bryan) of Bamberg, SC; four grandchildren, Melissa Rhoad of Orlando, FL, Meghan Rhoad Hutto (David) of Bamberg, SC, Madison Rhoad of Columbia, SC and Morgan Rhoads of Bamberg; brother, James Corbin and sisters, Monteen Elliot and Shelby Jean Price. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Paul McCollum.
