

CAYCE- May Frances Bailey Dixon, age 83, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017. A memorial worship service will be held at 3:00 pm. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the State Street Baptist Church in Cayce. The family will be receiving friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in the Fellowship Hall.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Furman University, May returned to her Home Town Alma Mater, Brookland-Cayce High School, to teach chorus. She and Rodolph Dixon were married June 8, 1957, and during his studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, she taught public school music and directed the Wake Forest High School chorus. They were appointed by the Southern Baptist Mission Board as missionaries to Peru in May, 1967, where they served until their retirement in October, 1998. May taught music in the Peru Baptist Theological Seminary, directed the Seminary chorus, taught piano, and led in music promotion and church choir ministries for the churches of Trujillo. She was also creative in the development and direction of programs and music for the Shiran Baptist Camp, which she and Rodolph started in 1969.
She is preceded in death by her father, Spencer B. Bailey, Jr, her mother, Myrtice J. Bailey, and her sister, Hampie B. Blackburn. In addition to her husband of 60 years, she is survived by her four children, David (Nancy), Merry (Keith), Spencer (Ginny), and Amy (Barry), as well as 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is also survived by her niece, Dani Blackburn Roof (Tommy).
