Michael James Lee

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael James Lee, 64, of Columbia, SC, on January 29, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on January 28, 1961, Michael was the son of the late Luther Lee and Patricia Ann Moore Lee. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Steven Thomas Lee Sr.

Michael was a kind and loving person, always willing to help others, often giving selflessly to those in need—he would give you the shirt off his back. While he was a private individual, his warmth, generosity, and genuine heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A proud graduate of Bishop Newman High School in Philadelphia, Michael went on to serve in the United States Navy, a testament to his commitment and deep sense of duty. He retired from the United States Postal Service, where he enjoyed a fulfilling career. Michael had a deep faith that guided him throughout his life, and he was a devoted believer.

Michael had many hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He had a passion for collecting coins and baseball cards, always seeking out rare finds. His love for the Philadelphia Eagles was unwavering, and he took great pride in cheering on his team. He also enjoyed playing the lottery, hoping for that big win. He was known for his unique passions and quirky sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him.

Michael’s family was his foundation, and he will be dearly missed by his surviving sisters: Denise Lee (Ingrid), Kathleen Lee-Albano (Robert), Sharon Lee Rolon (Nicholas), and his sister-in-law Debra Kachel Lee, along with several nieces and nephews who adored him.

A memorial service to honor Michael's life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel, 4219 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia, SC 29223. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Michael's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
