Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 47 years, Eileen “Lynn” and his children, Adrienne (Tim), Matthew (Carine) and Bryan (Courtney). Bob was adored by his grandchildren and will be missed by Breeana, Declan, Alexander, Adeleine, Caden, Elliana, Daxton, Tatiana, Brogan, and Rocklin.
Bob was born on March 27, 1947 in Denver, CO, the second of five children of Arthur and Zelphya Werner. He was a third generation “Jersey Boy” who excelled in academics and athletics, lettering in basketball and football, and who was inducted into the Rutherford High School Hall of Fame in 2016. He attended Columbia University on an academic and athletic scholarship, setting individual receiving records that stood for over 30 years, and graduated in 1969 with a B.A. degree.
He was a husband, a father, a teacher, a coach, a mentor, a role model, a matchmaker, a CEO, a leader, a builder, and an inventor. He had a quick and brilliant mind and left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of many. He is forever remembered for his great storytelling, his playfulness, his contagious smile and laugh, and his ability to always remain a big kid at heart. He had a tremendous generosity to him throughout his life, whether it was offering a helping hand, building homes in Mexico, or volunteering with the Knights of Columbus. He lived and led by example. Those who knew Bob were blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from him, including; having the right tool is key to getting the job done well, life is difficult and we don’t need to make it more so, and to love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existence.
