S. Patrick Johnston

Columbia: A funeral service for S. Patrick Johnston, 80, of Columbia, formerly of Fairfield, CT, will be held at 1 o’clock on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC with The Rev. Charles M. Davis, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Elgin. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock, Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Johnston died Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Born August 20, 1930 in Toronto, Canada, he was a son of the late Edward Stuart Johnston and Jessie Isabel Johnston. A member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Mr. Johnston was a Past Commodore at the Black Rock Yacht Club in Bridgeport, CT as well as a member of Fayerweather Yacht Club.

Survivors include his son, Stuart P. Johnston and wife Patricia Zimmermann of Trumbull, CT; daughter, Ellen P. Johnston of Fairfield, CT; grandchildren, Frederick S. Johnston and Christopher I. Johnston; brother, E. Stephen Johnston of New York, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Oneida Monroe Johnston.
