
Sue E. Cluxton of Columbia, South Carolina passed away September 8, 2023 after a long illness. Sue was born in Cincinnati, OH on October 30, 1939 to Elinor (Dening) and Philip Cluxton. Survived by cousins Lisa Stinziano and Lori Chrisman of Columbus, Ohio.
Sue earned a BS and MS in Physics from the University of Cincinnati and Ph. D in Education from the University of South Carolina. She spent most of her professional life in Columbia, South Carolina at Midlands Technical and Community College as a faulty member and department head. Prior to teaching, Sue worked in medical physics and as a government physicist.
Interests included a love of music. She played clarinet and cello in several bands including UC Marching Band, Columbia Community Concert Band, Lexington Concert Band, USC Strings Project and New Horizons Band.
In earlier years Sue was an active member in Alpha Gamma Delta, Columbia Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, American Educational Research Association and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Undoubtedly, the love of her life was dogs - especially Weimaraners. She was a member of the Weimaraner Club of America, Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club and Greater Columbia Obedience Club.
Sue should now be at the Rainbow Bridge reunited with all those which went before her.
Visitation will be held September 23, from 2-4 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, 4219 Hard Scrabble Rd., Columbia. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Manchester, Ohio.
