Thelma Smith

Blythewood: The funeral service for Thelma Clement Smith, 90, of Blythewood, will be held 3 o’clock, Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, with The Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o’clock. Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the church’s Building Fund, 6911 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, SC 29223.

Mrs. Smith died Monday, May 2, 2011. Born in Kershaw County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Willie Alburtus and Serena West Clement. Mrs. Smith was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, and was very active in the life of the church.

Survivors include her daughters, Marion (Joe) Rideoutte, Miriam (Jack) Hollis and Jonnie Gillian, all of Columbia; her sister, Eloise Petrozello of Augusta, Ga; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, James Marion Smith and two sons, Charles Perry Smith, Sr. and Walter Kingsley Smith.
