Thomas E. Overby

A memorial service for Thomas Edwin Overby, 84, of Cayce, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Congaree Presbyterian Church of Cayce, with Pastor John D. White officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be sent to Congaree Presbyterian Church, 1221 Lafayette Ave., Cayce, SC 29033.

Mr. Overby passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010. He was born in Angier, NC, to the late Zebedee and Ella Overby. Mr. Overby was a Purple Heart recipient of World War II, US Army. He retired from AMF Bowling. A resident of the Columbia area since the 1960s, he was an active member of Congaree Presbyterian Church. Mr. Overby was an active member of the Columbia Bridge Club.

Surviving closest family members are his daughter, Mollie Goad and husband, Jerry, of Columbia; a granddaughter, Laurie Stuckey and husband, Norman, of Columbia; three grandsons, Chris, John and Lee Froneberger, all of Tennessee; two great-grandchildren, Wallace Stuckey and Nellie Marlise Stuckey; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Froneberger; and niece, Allison Rogers. He will be missed dearly by many other family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Louise "Marlise" Torrance Overby.
