COLUMBIA - Graveside service for Valerie Carole Smith, 75, will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 2:00pm in Memorial Gardens of Columbia. Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel is assisting the family.
Valerie was born in London, England on December 25, 1938 to the late Cyril Palmer and Charlotte Robinson Palmer. At the age of eighteen she met and later married her husband, Daniel E. Smith, Jr. they then returned to the U.S.A. to begin their lives together. She was an Air Force wife and traveled all over the world while raising her family. She loved to bake, craft, enjoyed bowling and was of the Episcopal faith.
Surviving are son, David Lee Smith (Vickie) of Sandy Run; daughter, Carole Ann Edwards of Columbia; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, John Palmer of England; and two pets Sammy and Skeeter.
