Estelle was born on March 3, 1931 in Bonifay, FL to Benjamin H. and Minnie Melissa Smith. She grew up in Columbus, GA and worked at Kirven’s Department Store for over 15 years. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Murray Mack Carroll, to whom she was married for 70 years.
Estelle is survived by her husband; son Michael Carroll (Lena), Rineyville, KY; daughter Melissa Chadwick (Steve), Waverly Hall, GA; son-in-law Barry Lee Sobasky, Columbus, GA; nine grandchildren, Michael Brian Carroll (Evelyn), Jamie Burton (Joe), Michael Robert Carroll (Amber), Natasha Kinsland (Jessie), Jerry Jordan, Tony Monk (Britton), Shawna Cheves (Will), Barry Sobasky (Heather), David Sobasky (Ashley); 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Sobasky; her twin brother, Carthel Smith; and 4 sisters, Mamie Fuller, Buna McGowin, Bulah Mae Biekowski, and Edith Austin.
Estelle was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who gave much of her time and love to her family. She and Mack were also active members of Trinity Temple Assembly of God, Columbus, GA for many years, and had a passion for traveling with their senior Sunday school group. Estelle had the best personality and always kept everyone around her laughing at her quick wit and humor.
The family would like to thank the staff of Magnolia Manor West 2 for their compassion and love for Estelle while she was in their care. We are so thankful for each of you.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service officiated by Pastor Mike McBride on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 1:00pm at Parkhill Cemetery located at 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA.
