

She graduated from Headland Colored High School in Headland, Alabama. Later in life she met and united in Holy Matrimony to Sgt. James G. Leak, Columbus, Georgia. Their military life afforded them the ability to live in several states and countries. Later, returning to Columbus, Georgia where they first met and resided until Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
Ann was a devoted and wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. During her lifetime she worked and held several jobs and positions outside the home.
Her hobby was shopping. She loved shopping for her family, friends, home and herself. When she attended family gatherings and activities, she was always beautifully dressed and all eyes were on her. She also, loved a clean and beautifully decorated home. Her husband (James) would say that dust didn’t stand a chance to settle in their home when Ann was around.
Ann departed this life on January 3, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. Ann was predeceased by her father, Robert G. Carter; her mother, Emma Lee Carter Reynolds, her brother, Robert Earl Carter; her sisters: Eva Mae Carter Lockett, Lillian Carter McCalla, Irene Carter Tiller, Luddie B. Carter Neal, and Rebecca Carter Givens.
She leaves to mourn her memories: Her devoted husband, Sgt. Major James G. Leak, Columbus, GA.; Two loving sons: Ronnie (Linda) Carter, Midland, GA; Maymon (Vickie) Baxter, Columbus, GA; One God- daughter: Lillian C. Smith, Lorton, VA; Seven Grandchildren; Eight Great-grandchildren; Two Brothers: Nathan (Mary) Carter, Dublin, GA., Willie Frank (Sarah) Carter, Dothan, Alabama; One Sister: Christine C. (Clarence) Thomas, Dothan, Alabama; One Sister-in law: Barbara Clark, Columbus, GA; Special friend; Ms. Pearl Croney; Special Friend and Neighbor: Mrs. Doris Brown; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
