Annie Loy Greene Welch

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Georgia with Reverend David Lix and Reverend Donnie Cook officiating. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery. Her family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 in the St. Elmo room at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Georgia.

Mrs. Welch was born on May 2, 1921 in Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late Loy Marie Greene and William Pen Greene. She was married to the late John Allen Welch for 73 years before his passing on November 20, 2013, other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death also by sister, Sarah Whittemore, brothers, John, Otis, and James Greene. Mrs. Welch worked and retired from the Civil Service and upon retirement she and her husband opened The Framing Place. Her greatest joys in life were her faith, her family and frequent shopping trips.

She leaves her daughters, Elizabeth Johnston (Bobby) of Columbus, GA and Barbara Gibson (David) of Clinton, MS; grandsons, Jayson Johnston (Laura) of Hamilton, GA and John Gibson (Lauren) of Atlanta, GA; great-grandson, Raylan Johnston of Hamilton, GA; great-granddaughter, Ann Gibson of Atlanta, GA; and numerous other relatives.
