

Arthur Lee Ferrell, age 91, resident of Columbus, died on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Friday, September 20, 2013, 3 p.m. with Chaplain Wayne Holloway officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 12:30 p.m. till 2:30 p.m. Mr. Ferrell, son of the late Alcie Ferrell and Elsie Brooks Ferrell, was born July 28, 1922 in Holly Pond, Alabama. He was a U.S. Army veteran, where he served his country honorably in World War II. Mr. Ferrell was an active member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church where he previously served on the building committee and baptism committee. He was retired from Cross Country Plaza where he faithfully worked for over 57 years as Building Superintendent. Mr. Ferrell was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Akin Ferrell; three sisters; and two brothers. He is survived by one daughter, Jan Ferrell Settles of Columbus; one brother, K.C. Ferrell and his wife Marty of Flint, Michigan; one granddaughter, Amy Settles French and her husband Stephen of Columbus; one grandson, Jon Lee Settles and his wife Amy of Columbus; one great-granddaughter, Sara Settles of Columbus; two great-grandsons, Carson French and Connor French, both of Columbus; other relatives and friends.
