Artie was born on January 8, 1950, in Glendale, California, and was a proud native Californian. He spent his childhood growing up in Pasadena and San Marino, where he developed the character and spirit that would remain with him throughout his life.
A gifted musician, Artie loved music deeply and was an accomplished guitarist on both acoustic and electric guitar. He spent time in England playing alongside well-known musicians and remained a devoted fan of The Rolling Stones from the very beginning. Music was one of the great passions of his life and a source of joy and connection throughout the years.
Artie also had a lifelong love of art and creativity. He attended the San Francisco Art School in San Francisco, California, where he pursued and developed his artistic talents.
Known for his “gift of gab,” Artie was a wonderful storyteller and joke teller who could light up a room with laughter and conversation. He had a generous heart and could always be counted on to help anyone in need. His kindness, humor, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his two daughters, Whitney Lynch Markham and Katrina Rhea Lynch, both of Columbus, Georgia; his three grandsons, Danny Rawlins Danielson, Cooper Gray Hudson and Asher Ridge Markham; his sister, Georgia Lynch McClure, and her husband, Robert Julian McClure III; and his nieces and nephews, Fontaine Hammond Ayala, Strother McRae Hammond, Marguerite Alexis Hammond, Samuel Woodson McClure, and Charles Scarbrough McClure.
Artie will be remembered for the lives he touched, the memories he created with family and friends, and the enduring presence he brought to those who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he stay forever young
