Ben Allen Smith Sr.

Funeral services with military honors will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday August 17, 2010 in the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Billy Ledbetter and Reverend Ben Bennett officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday August 16, 2010 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born January 7, 1932 in Greenville, AL son of the late Ralph Smith and Icefean Newton Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War.

Survivors include his daughter, Elaine Batson and her husband Ken of Canton, GA, his sons, Ben A. Smith, Jr. of Brewton, AL and Donald L. Smith and his wife Taffee of Beulah, AL, a brother, Ralph E. Smith of Burkburnette, TX, grandsons, David (Erin) Batson, Brian (Chrissee) Batson, Andy (Heather) Batson, Craig (Miranda) Batson, Isaiah Smith, Jacob Smith, Granddaughters, Tabitha White, Amy (Jimmy) Gavins, great-grandchildren, Jesse Batson, Luke Batson, Savannah Batson, Bruce Batson, Gracie batson, Traci Gavins, Jonathon Gavins, Justin Gavins, and Brendan Gavins, nieces and nephews, Claudia Sciarra, Bertie Foster, Billy Ralph Smith, Nancy Martin, Shelia Herndon and Dale McCall.
