Betty Joyce Reese Dyess, age 76, of Troy, AL, formerly of Columbus, passed away on May 10, 2022. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 2 until 4 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Columbus, GA; A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10:00 am.
Betty was born in Columbus, she made it her home and it’s where she raised her family. Betty was the owner of Gifts by Betty which operated on Fort Benning for 10 years. Betty always enjoyed going and doing, especially if there was fun to be had. Whenever you would see Betty, she would always have her hair and makeup done. She loved fishing, watching birds, and enjoyed dancing. Her potato salad was second to none. Betty enjoyed cutting up with family and friends, even if that meant she had to laugh at herself, she loved to have fun. What she truly loved was the time she spent with her family.
Betty is preceded in death by: her parents, David O’Neill Halstead and Susie Halstead; and a daughter, Tara Michelle Reese.
Survivors include: her husband, Gregory D. Dyess; six children, Theresa Reese, William Reese, Vanessa Thrift, Mathew Dyess, B.J. Dyess, Charity Dyess; 12 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
