Betty Carolyn Massey, 82, of Columbus, Georgia, passed peacefully in her home on November 18, 2023. Betty was born on December 19, 1940 in Frisco City, Alabama, to Elma Johnson Wiggin and Isaac O. Wiggins. Betty retired from Union Carbide-Kemet. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed bowling and softball. In her free time, she spent time with her children and played with her grandchildren. Betty was a woman of strong faith, and prioritized church and family. She was as caring, loving, patient, and faithful as she was beautiful to the love of her life, Lester “Ray” Massey. Betty will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Betty Massey is preceded in death by her parents, Elma Johnson Wiggins and Isaac O. Wiggins. She is survived by her Husband, Lester Ray Massey; Sons, Mike Massey (Kathy) of Columbus, GA, and Marcus Massey of Orlando, FL; Grandchildren, Shannon Reed (Travis) of Columbus, GA, Hunter Massey (Ashton) of Columbus, GA, Logan Thorton of Wynn, AR, Stevie Massey of Jacksonville, N.C., and Drew Massey of Wynn, AR; Great-grandchildren, Gracie Reed, Cooper Reed, and Blake Thorton; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Betty will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907, on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm, concluding with a committal service at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Following services, family and friends will be invited back to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary for a catered reception.
