Braxton was born June 29, 1926 in Saragossa, Alabama to Savannah and Braxton Ferguson, Sr. He grew up during hard times and learned very early to do things for himself. When the United States became involved in WWII, Braxton heard their call and joined the US Navy. He spent the next 23 years and 9 months serving proudly. While in the Navy, he met and married the love of his life and began a life- long commitment to Ms. Louise McCullar. Together they raised eight children on a sailor's salary. Braxton was a man of few words but after being stationed in so many places and moving his family so much, he became a homebody. He enjoyed his job working with his hands at Ft. Benning and at home. He was an avid TIDE and Bear Bryant fan. He taught by example that no project was too big, how to work, to visualize, write it down and plan your job, then execute your plan. He loved his grandchildren and often could be heard laughing and joking with them. Braxton will always be remembered and a hard working provider, a good husband, daddy, and granddaddy. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Braxton’s mother Savannah; father Braxton Ferguson, Sr; siblings Collis, Joe “Otis”, Sylvia, Wanda, Willie, Christine, and Henry; children Teresa F. Morgan and Kerry “Craig” Ferguson; and grandchildren Joey Ferguson and Brandon Ferguson preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Louise McCullar Ferguson; daughter Darlene Ferguson; son Kevin Ferguson (Beth); daughter Colette Adamson; son Scot Ferguson (Karen); son Heath Ferguson (Kelly); and son Brent Ferguson (Lori); grandsons Justin Ferguson, Josh Hammett (Kristin), Jeremy Ferguson, Jerrod Ferguson (Kim), Luke Adamson, Troy Sanchez, Kaleb Ferguson, Benjamin Adamson, Wyatt Ferguson and Waylon Ferguson; granddaughters Lauren Davis (Brandon), Lindsay Doggett (Ryan), Devan Shaffer (Eric), Jessica Riggs (Eric) and Sierra Jacobson. Braxton also had nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends to cherish his memory.
