Carolyn Barbara Thomas

The family will gather Thursday evening for a visitation at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on September 8, 2018 at the Family Activity Center at Lakewood Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL, from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm.

Barbara was born in Columbus, GA. on December 29, 1930 to the late Luther Douglas Ward and Irma Estell Allen Ward. She retired from Civil Service where she worked as a Clerk for the Supply Division. She was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Phenix City, and the Amen Choir. Barbara was a former member of Fairview Baptist church in Columbus, GA.

She is survived by her two daughters, Frannie Ann Thomas Sherwood (David) and Gail Dawn Thomas Gentry, (Jeffery) all of Phenix City, AL, five grandchildren, Joshua Gentry (Dannielle), Taylor Gentry Adams (Anthony), David Joel Sherwood (Kaylee), Cody Thomas Sherwood (Mallory) and Abigail Messer, six great grandchildren, Rain Causer, Eastyn Sherwood, Hudson Gentry, Sawyer Sherwood, Wylder Adams, Gentry Adams and many special friends and extended family.

Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made to the Amen Choir at Lakewood Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL.
