
Carrie Virginia L. Mixon Jarrett, age 90, resident of Columbus, passed thru the gates of Heaven into His loving arms Thursday, February 24, 2011 at her residence after a long illness. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Monday, February 28, 2011, 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Thomas and Rev. Watson McKemie officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 3-5 p.m. Mrs. Jarrett, daughter of the late Mack Lively and Nora Naomi Moxley Lively, was born in Emanuel County, GA and moved to Columbus in 1940 where she retired from Eagle and Phenix Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley W. Mixon; her second husband, Alex Jarrett, Sr; sons-in-law, Richard Harbour, Sr. and Sonny Howard; sister-in-law, Hazel Lively; and step-daughters, Eleanor Grimes and Frances Tillery. She is survived by her daughters, Imogene Harbour of Lake Harding, AL and Lorette Howard of Columbus; brother, Paul (Ester) Lively of Moultrie, GA; grandchildren, Rick (Pat) Harbour, Donna Harbour, Lisa (Mel) Miller, Teresa Clayberger, and Jeff Howard; eight great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step-sons, Alex Jarrett, Jr and W.D. (Frieda) Jarrett; and step-daughter, Betty Pilcher. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Ann, Collette, Pam, Janice, Gloria, Larice, and her “Tuff Old Bird” friend, Jo Bowers.
