

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Ray Jones, passed away on April 11, 2012 at Vista Care Hospice after a long battle with cancer. Cryptside services will be held at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum, Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Saturday, April 14, 2012, 3 p.m. with Reverend (Dr.) Frank Parr officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Ray, son of the late Cecil Gaines Jones and Iva Kelly Jones, was born on May 2, 1946 in Columbus and was a lifelong Columbus resident. He was educated in local public schools and Columbus State University. Ray worked locally in management accounting for 23 years before going to work for Diversified Trucking Corp. in Opelika, AL where he became President and co-owner. He was also co-owner of Tombo’s Restaurant for 25 years. At the time of his death, he was co-owner of B&B Realty Investments, LLC. Ray was a lifelong Methodist and attended Wynnton United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jane B. Jones; two daughters, Kelly Cameron and her husband Vic and Amanda Bufford, all of Columbus; five grandchildren, Madelyn, Lydia, and Garrett Cameron, Carson Jones and Ansley Bufford; and other relatives and friends. He valued friendship very deeply and loved his friends as family. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of the John B. Amos Cancer Center with a special thanks to the nurses on the infusion floor. Ray thought that they were a special group who made the treatments more bearable. Also, special thanks to Vista Care Hospice for their tender care and love they expressed to the family during this sad time.
