Christine M. Jones, age 91, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA; a Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 pm. Interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery.
Christine was born on November 7, 1929 in Columbus, Georgia, the daughter of Donia Spivey Massey and Lewis Everett Massey.
Christine graduated from Jordan High School and attended Secretarial School. In 1948 she married James Raymond Jones. Christine worked for Swift Mills and a secretary and went to work for Haverty Furniture Company where she held the position of Vice-President/Corporate Secretary. Christine was a lady of order, who planned, was kind, caring and charitable, elegant, beautiful, and knew when and how to be persistent. Despite both of her parents passing by the age of 14, forever grateful to her Aunt Matt for helping to raise her, she went on to have a full and wonderful life, working hard and being able to enjoy the rewards of her hard work. Christine loved her savior and had been a member of first Presbyterian Church and Northside Baptist. She always went out of her way to ensure things were perfect. To know her was to know that she loved the arts and music, kittens and puppies, the Georgia Bulldogs and Werther’s original hard candy. What she truly loved was being a friend, a mother and a grandmother; time spent with them was cherished.
Christine was preceded in death by: her parents, Donia Spivey Massey, Lewis Everett Massey, Lemuel Hubbard, Mattie Hubbard, James Massey, James Raymond Jones Jr.
Survivors include her son, James David (Dana) Jones; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth and William David; three nieces, Rechima Massey, Pam (Dewey) Morrison, and Kathy (Mark) Brinkman; four nephews, Darryl Massey, Johnny (Helen) Layfield, Benjamin (Kathy) Layfield, Donnis Jones Jr.; and cousins, Alice Faye (Jimmy) Self.
