Clara Jean Hollis

Mrs. Clara Jean Hollis, age 80, passed away on June 30, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Hollis was born on June 9, 1930 to the late Joseph Lester and Sara Sue Lester in LaGrange, GA. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers and being outdoors. Mrs. Hollis was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who sacrificed so much to make sure her family was cared for with affection. She was a member of Edgewood Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bobby Gene Hollis.

Survivors include her six children, David Hollis (Judy) of Germantown, TN, Peggy Hatfield (Joe) of Douglasville, GA, Cathy Lott (Dennis) of Midland, GA, Teresa Wimberly (Rick) of Columbus, GA, Tim Hollis (Angie) of Midland, GA and Tammy Hughes (John) of Columbus; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
