

David was born in Columbus, GA and was raised in Waverly Hall, graduating from Tri County Academy in 1974. He worked for Georgia Power Company for several years before opening his own construction business in 1985. David took great pride in his work. He has a special gift with looking at a blank canvas of dirt and rock and transforming it into a masterpiece.
David had a love for the great outdoors and his hobbies included scuba diving, spending time working on his farm, and being with his family. Having a love for missions, David went on several MAPS trips with Evangel Temple thoughout the years. He had a generous and giving heart that will truly be missed. David was also a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.
David was one of six boys born to Anne S. Taft, and the late Carey M. Taft, and was the beloved husband of Sally Wynn Taft for 34 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Sara, son in law Brandon, and grandson Brett; his five brothers, Kenny, Benny, Charley, Wayne, and Melvin; numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, November 14, 2011 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend Mark Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
