Dennis Drue Allen, age 71, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Monday July 30, 2018. Dennis was born January 14, 1947 to his late parents, Izora and Charles Allen. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus. Dennis graduated from Jordan Vocational High School and attended Columbus State University. He served proudly in the US Army and was a Viet Nam veteran. Dennis retired from Columbus Water Works as a Waste Water Analyst after 25 years of service. He loved to fish and hunt, in his earlier years, was a Braves and Falcon fan as well as a War Eagle. Dennis loved his family especially spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed his pets as they always brought a smile. He was a quiet man who took life one day at a time. Dennis will be missed by all who knew him.
Along with his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by; brothers, Donald Allen, Terry Allen and Phillip Allen. He is survived by his wife, Juliann Allen; son Bryan Allen; and daughter-in-law Christi Ross Allen; brothers, Timothy Allen and Kenneth (Carolyn) Allen, and sister Lisa LeBel; grandson Ian Ross Allen and granddaughter Kate Bethany Allen; nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends.
The family will welcome guests for visitation Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A Graveside Celebration of Dennis' Life will follow from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. Pastor Danny Courtney will officiate.
