Dennis was born on October 27, 1955 in Columbus, GA to Florence and Oscar Lott. He is survived by the love of his life, Cathy; their two children, Andrea Kennedy (Justin) and Dennis Lott, Jr. (Thatiana); his four precious grandchildren (who lovingly referred to him as ‘BA’), Jackson Beau (13), Willow Eden (10), Julia Hollis (8), and Henry Hobson (5); his brother, Kenneth Lott; and his sister, Diane Lee (Ronald); much extended family, and close friends that include business acquaintances and employees, the tennis community and so many others.
Dennis loved being outdoors, and if the sun was out, so was he. Tennis, fishing, walking on the beach, and boating were just a few of the things he loved to do outdoors. Dennis spent his summer weekends in Florida, as he loved to be near the water with his family. He loved all animals, especially his dog, Major Tom, who preceded him in death in 2018.
He owned and operated Lott Sheet Metal and Roofing in Columbus, GA. He built his reputation on integrity and quality workmanship, and is respected for that in the community.
His battle with cancer this past year showed his courage in facing life challenges. He demonstrated bravery and determination even when his treatments left him feeling very ill. His love for his family, his adventurous spirit, and his unique sense of humor will always be remembered by those he left behind.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to John B. Amos Cancer Center in Columbus, GA. We are so thankful to Dr. Andrew Pippas and his loving staff for Dennis’ excellent care during his illness. Also, please consider donations to Columbus Hospice on Moon Rd., Columbus, GA. Striffler-Hamby is entrusted with the arrangements. Condolences may be offered at www.shcolumbus.com for the Lott family.
