Dolores "Peggy" Ann Newberry

Dolores Ann “Peggy” Newberry, 92, formerly of Talbotton, Georgia passed away at her home in Ellaville, Georgia on November 20, 2025. She was born on February 16, 1933 in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Fannie Mae Prince Moore and James Milton Moore, Sr.

Peggy was married to the late James M. Newberry, Sr. together they called Talbotton, Georgia home, in the country where she loved to garden and tend to her flowers. She also had a passion for her animals. She had her own mini ranch with cows, chickens, dogs, to include some undomesticated critters. She loved all of God’s creation. Peggy worked for many years with the Talbot County School District to ensure students and faculty had a nutritious meal during their school day.

Peggy leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her children: Derrell E. Newberry (Brenda), and Jamela Masilek (George Schmidt); grandchildren: Kimberly Mott (Arlen), Marcus Newberry (Jessica), and James Newberry; great grandchildren: Kaylee Newberry, Allie Newberry, and Briar Newberry; sister, Ramona Scarborough; and several nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Newberry; son, James M. Newberry, Jr.; parents, Fannie Mae and James Moore, Sr.; sister, Judy Dickerson; and brother, James M. Moore, Jr.

A graveside service for Peggy will be held in Parkhill Cemetery on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Family will visit at the graveside from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM.
